Happy Saturday!
Our last Substack of 2023, can you believe it? I’m on my way to Washington DC to ring in the New Year with friends. I don’t know about you, but I’m thrilled for 2024. I love even numbers, right? So safe and reliable. It’s going to be a good one. Here are some bits and bobs from my week. Enjoy!
Sam and I are daydreaming about 2024 travel and I came across this article with some absolutely delicious looking locations. I find the Brits have a better handle on the best Caribbean spots. I think we must launch a line of long Nonie dresses so I have an excuse to try one of these spots….
If you haven’t seen Bradley Cooper’s new film Maestro on Netflix, I encourage you to watch it. We’ve seen it twice already in my house. Not only is it an incredible film, their country house in Connecticut is an inspiration feast for the eyes. Even sweeter, it is filmed in Leonard Bernstein’s actual home in Connecticut. He passed it on to his children and they still own the residence. The New York Times agrees with me.
I know we’ve discussed this several times but it bears repeating. Saltburn is now available to rent on Prime. You must. It’s going to be a killer Academy Awards this year. Doesn’t it feel like this was the first year in a long time filled with really good movies, all in theaters?
This is what I’m making for my next winter dinner party. I’m in the depths on 2010 Ina this week and I can’t get out.
In 2024, I’m going to invest in more solid linen tablecloths. Love that Kiwi color. After looking at prints all day, I like the idea of quiet linen solids at home. We used a simple white linen tablecloth for Christmas this year and it felt refreshing. Does anyone have a great resource for full drop, 100% linen tablecloths? Why is everything so short? Please let me know in the comments. If I have to go to Italy, I will.
Thank you all so much for your support of our new Substack. We began in April of this year and it’s been such fun. I love connecting with you in longer form a few times a week. Instagram can feel like a huge void with no feeling sometimes, and I really have loved building an MM community on another platform. Please suggest 2024 topics you’d like to discuss in the comments below. Sending a big, warm hug and a happy happy new year to you and your loved ones.
Cheers, MM
