Saturday 09.23.23
Writing our Saturday substack is one of my favorite Friday afternoon tasks. It’s one of the last things I do before I say hello to my weekend and I love it.
I’ve been thinking alot this week about seasonal dressing. And I’ve come to the conclusion I think it’s sort of a gimmick. I can’t even think of chatting with y’all about winter coats and houndstooth jackets and boots. It’s truly not the time yet. The truth is, it’s September 22nd and in no way is it even remotely cool enough for a sweater. It certainly will be when our sweater pre-orders deliver:) but it’s not now…
You know what item is absolutely perfect right now? Our Montego Veda caftan that is now in stock!
She’s my absolute favorite dress we’ve designed this year. It’s part black tie, part the most comfortable thing you’ve ever worn, part relaxed glamour. I’m going to wear it to dinner tonight with a navy Leigh cardigan and I can’t wait.
It’s seasonless dressing. I can wear our Montego print with a cardigan or a navy blazer anywhere in the South all winter or with a swimsuit underneath when it’s ninety degrees. I can wear our Leigh cardigan over my shoulders all summer at the beach or layered with a cashmere turtleneck in February.
NYTimes released their list of America’s Best Restaurant’s this week and it seems I have some traveling to do! In particular I’m pencilling in a day trip to Kent next weekend to dine here. How charming.
I’m not ready to switch out my wardrobe, I’m always eager to transition to a more fall friendly makeup palette. I love these deep rosy shades and might take a break from my standard cheery pink.
While I’ll be having a much needed girls night, by brother is off to an early preview of the Manet/Degas exhibit at the Met. By the time y’all are reading this, it will be open to the public. I’ll be going at some point this weekend so if you see me there, say hello!
Happy Weekend,
MM
