Well, y’all we did it. For years we’ve been trying to add a good looking, short sleeve to our best selling shift silhouette. Our first year in business, we made a version with a molded cap sleeve, Dodie. While she was very successful, it was never something I personally wanted to wear. I knew we could do better. But not just any sleeve would do.
About a year ago, we designed a very voluminous, draped sleeve for one of my best friend’s wedding gown. It was a couture volume that I loved, so far from a standard cotton puff sleeve that I know personally I’m ready to never see again. When I saw how comfortable she was on her wedding day, I knew a scaled down version was the perfect festive, dare I say zesty(!) sleeve to provide my MM girls. It’s perfect in both length and volume - it makes a statement but is still totally wearable/practical.
The key is how the sleeve is sewn into the armhole. It sews into the top half of the armhole, and then releases. So you have zero shoulder movement restriction. I always used to tease my mom growing up about how she moved when trying on sleeved dresses. She would make this hilarious chicken dance movement if the sleeve was too tight. And I would always say, just don’t move like that mom! Grown women don’t need to move their arms like that! Well guess what. Now you can.
Bouquet Floral is a new print for us and I couldn’t be more excited. Our print artist knocked it out of the park with this one on the first try. That’s how all great prints usually happen. They’re either perfect from the jump or we need to let them go.
I’ve been “walking the dog” all week in our new Posey dress and have to say, I’ve had a change of heart about a beloved downtown spot. (***walking the dog is an industry term referring to when you walk new product around the neighborhood to advertise) I went to The Nines the week it opened, and like most new restaurants, it had a few kinks to work out. We made a 5pm sharp reservation this week (my favorite time to go out) and it was a very pleasant experience. The piano player is lovely, the people watching is very entertaining and our waitress was attentive and charming. The portions are very small, but the drinks are top drawer. Grab a 5pm reservation on Resy and tell me what you think!
Happy Saturday!
Loooove the sleeves - and proud owner of four Louise shifts that I wear constantly - well done ❤️
