Happy Saturday!
WHAT’S ON:
While I’m a firm believer that summer lasts until about September 15th these days, it IS that exciting time in the world of preorders that we start to make the turn into the crisp weather ahead. Today is the final day to preorder our restock of our classic workhouse Pansy print styles, Sylvie and Blair.
AND we are debuting our first NEW sweater since January, EMERY!
I’ve wanted to design a classic fisherman sweater since we’ve started this business. Our Quinn turtleneck was a wintry homage to a favorite heritage sweater, but Emery really takes the cake with over the top nautical yumminess.
It’s not a chunky turtleneck, so it can be worn in the summer, fall or winter. But it’s still knit with lots of weight which keeps you warm when it’s chilly. We took our time designing four different stitches, and cabled trim, which you never see. The placement and width of each cable has been adjusted and revised several times. Our new Emery sweater really was a labor of love.
I’m going to layer with a light turtleneck underneath or a Hermes scarf tucked in when there’s a chill in the air. I might need to take a little trip to the store next week to make sure I have something suitable for our new Vintage Blue color way. I love this kind of blue for sweaters and am so excited to offer it for the first time. It’s not the usual pale blue that can be so easily added to almost anything. It’s very Double RL to me, but in our polished MM way ;)
And I’ll be layering our new navy Emery sweater with navy Sylvie all fall. Admittedly my samples (we call them “sew-bys” in the biz) are already at the factory so I can’t show y’all, but it’s going to be a navy fiesta come October.
INSPIRATION:
I snuck out to the Sound View Greenport with our new sweaters and loved the stay. They have a charming little whaler’s bar with a live Piano on Tuesday nights. I have to say, the “motel-chic” vibe REALLY made me want to rewatch Psycho, of all things. While slashers are not my speed, I think there’s enough chic/camp in Psycho to brave through.
Speaking of psycho, I flew through this book while we were traveling. Oh my. I can’t recommend it enough. It’s not the most sophisticated writing style but boy is it entertaining. A perfect travel or beach read.
I’ll be spending the weekend cooking, attending a wedding in the city and chatting with y’all about our new launches! Please reach out if you have any questions. We’re delighted to add such a fun new sweater to the mix.
