Saturday 08.05.23
It’s been such a whirlwind week here at MM HQ. It’s a relief to think it will be early Saturday morning by the time y’all are cozying up reading this with a cup of coffee. We’ll have launched and shipped loads of summer webstock. It’s as classic as it gets, in my opinion.
I find I need way more sweaters than I ever plan for in late summer. I’m about to head into a stretch of back-to-back weddings which means endless travel. Of course, we have plenty of perfect options to wear to a wedding, but in reality, that’s only five hours of the journey. Summer weight sweaters make the cold plane, train and car rides alot more enjoyable. I can’t really travel without an MM pashmina at this point. It’s wrapped around me whenever I’m not outside.
The first batch of our sailboat collection is also shipping, ideal for high summer style. And let’s be realistic. It’s hot through September. Very hot. When I can’t possibly wear another floral dress, our hand painted sailboats print always feels fresh and fun.
Getting my sailboat samples back from our factory really made me go into summer celebration overdrive. Especially in the kitchen. I had the most delicious anchovy and tomato toast at the Armani Hotel bar in Milan last summer and have been dying to recreate it ever since. It’s not even a recipe. Just toast a few really fresh slices of bread and then rub a clove of garlic on each piece of the hot toast (it will melt). Layer as many anchovies as you can handle on the garlic toast and top with a huge ½” slice of heirloom tomato. Flaky salt, pepper, oil, spicy oil, anything you enjoy as a topping! I paired my summer cocktail hour snack with a prebatched pitcher of John Dalys. Equal parts fresh lemonade, unsweeted iced tea and the vodka of your choice. I found this proportion to be a little weak for my taste, but you can always add more!
Just when I thought my summer cocktail hour couldn’t get any lovelier, I remembered my new Tina Barney book I pre-ordered in June arrived. She is one of my favorite photographers and I was elated to pour over these new images. It’s now available on Amazon.
Hope you find yourself barefoot with an MM knit and a John Daly this weekend!
Xx,
