Happy Saturday!
I find mid July has grown to be one of my favorite times of year to spend in the city. It feels sort of like being in the library late at night after all the other students leave. It’s peaceful, focused and exciting researching projects as the back half of the year inevitably approaches.
We’re wrapping our linen pre-order today and I can’t tell you how frequently I live in our linen. It’s a much-needed palette cleanser. I’m so excited to launch resort once late January hits, but by the time July rolls around, I simply cannot look at another tossed multi flower or sunset hued solid. Huge fatigue.
Between watching original Barefoot Contessa on the weekends (I splurged and bought the complete seasons, not available on streamers) and getting into the weekly Saturday substack groove, I feel like I should write a seasonal fashion cookbook of sorts. What you want to wear at what time of year. Accurate 2023 climate included: Linen can reach through all of September so don’t break out your sweaters until October, etc. Sleeveless is going to break your heart and leave you in the dust in the Northeast until mid-April. A printable calendar that hangs on the back of your door or something…maybe 2024….
INSPIRATION:
Just like everyone else, I need a little five-minute visual break a few times a day. Maybe it’s common knowledge but everyone does get in their own rut of things to peruse online. House and Garden UK absolutely wins the game of best online interiors website experience. There’s no paywall, and they feature a different property Every. Single. Day. It’s the loveliest little break paired with a fresh cup of coffee and a piece of chocolate. I highly recommend sneaking it into your workday.
Last but not least, I saw the Barbie movie opening night and it really is phenomenal. They did such a great job of keeping all trailers to content in the first five minutes of the film. Lots of unexpected joy throughout! Go with a friend, wear pink and ham it up. Life is short. It’s so inspiring to see the movie theater filled to the brim yet again.
This interview with creator Greta Gerwig highlights 29 movies she references while making Barbie and I loved watching it… definitely adding some to my personal list!
