Happy Saturday!
Our Louise restock to pair with webstock Pashminas wraps today. I love both of these products and all the prints we’re offering for summer, which has just truly begun this week in New York. (We have some amazing new prints coming soon, too) I loved pairing each Louise with her matching Pashmina for three nights out this week (a big deal for this homebody). It made me also dream while on my laptop this week about how I would pair our summery printed shifts with other products for a fabulous summer trip.
I have talked a lot recently about my obsession with Villa Mabrouka, the newly opened boutique hotel in Tangiers that was once a vacation home to Yves Saint Laurent. Their Instagram reels are great and so dreamy. I was tempted to repost one with the caption “this and a new MM Shift”, but it was just a *bit* too trendy for me… If you follow us on instagram, you probably can tell we’ve been dipping our toes in the water to embrace more social trends. It got me thinking about fresh ways to talk about vacation MM. I love our basics/classics, but I also love a good vacation piece.
That’s the talk of everyone I know in these recent weeks - planning last minute getaways for August, asking what you’re planning (and maybe some people fishing for a last minute invite to other’s pre planned trips, too…).
So, I spent some time this week roaming for dream products to round out a fresh Summer Vacation travel wardrobe/packing list. Things to wear between/with MM Shifts/Pashminas/Swim - both higher and lower brands/price points - that’s the chicest way to dress if you ask me!
Everyone needs a fresh, big, easy linen shirt or two (or three) for summer. As a coverup, to run around for hot weather errands, I wear them with trousers or jeans and a printed pashmina or scarf - you name it. This white one is great quality, and I love the indigo color too. Sam has a tailored one like this from Italy, the color is really unusual but beautiful in linen. This pink one is so fun for color lovers too (also comes in black, chic with white denim).
One the higher end of the shopping scale, for a very special trip, I have been loving some of Pucci’s new prints (they have a fairly new designer). I either love Pucci or really think it looks played out (something I’m very wary of as a “classic but fresh” designer…). I am so obsessed with these trousers, and the shirt to make it a set. Such a good print. A martini couldn’t taste better than enjoying it while wearing this on the Med, I’d imagine. I am seriously considering making a really fun silk printed trousers set again soon, what do y’all think of that? This one piece is way too crazy for me in reality, but so fun for one of you with more bold ambitions. I stick to our classics for swim here at MM, but it’s fun to imagine have the guts (or abs…) to pull this off.
I have a lot of thoughts about summer/vacation shoes. And they shift year to year, with more experiences under my belt (and more price hikes….). This is a great neutral raffia, high quality slide. Also in that world, these are great, affordable espadrilles that work for anything warm weather, from vacation to camp drop off. My closet is currently inhabited mostly by ones like these, which I love the look of, but am getting tired of adjusting…
These sandals really piqued my interest. I am not a fan of the “big toe strap” on a sandal. You are never going to see me in a “jelly”/mesh/mary jane shoe, despite the entire shoe industry’s attempt this entire year. However, I would make an exception here. I actually love that they’re simple, braided, and rubber, but don’t appear it. How perfect for any vacation, particularly where the beach or town is rocky/hilly! Again, my usual espadrille or raffia shoe has certainly been torn up in those locations on past trips. I love the black, but they also come in white. I really think these are a great switch up.
One last dressy number I love are these yellow sandals. I went to a party/discussion this week between Emilia Wickstead & the CEO of Manolo Blahnik (the namesake’s niece, possibly the chicest person I’ve ever met). Both were beyond lovely, gracious women and the conversation around quality, lasting, timeless product was beyond inspiring to little ole MM. These sandals are at the top of my list to shake up color this summer in a classic way.
A few new pairs of gold earrings for vacation is always a good way to make an old shift feel new again (at least for me). These, these or these are still in my head to shake it up this summer.
This embroidered clutch is a great price compared to others that are similar. Great to add to your special occasion arsenal all year round. I also have this day bag, which I love. It’s natural but structured, which isn’t that common. It’s perfect to take to the beach or pool - it perfectly fits sunglasses, your phone, a book, sunscreen, airpods, and this year I would for sure tuck an MM printed pashmina in there for a little style.
Where are you headed this summer?!
xx
