Happy Saturday!
WHAT’S ON/WEEKLY INSPIRATION:
There’s so much happening at MM HQ. June is always a month for planning, dreaming, new ideas… Spring is something that occupies a designers mind from (at least here) probably October - Memorial Day. And there’s something about Summer, you can never quite figure out what that Summer will feel like until it begins. So we spend the first few weeks of June plotting for August/September, cooling weather, Holiday, and a few last minute Summer “squeeze ins”, which are always fun… Still figuring those out.
BUT, with our first rounds of June webstock being polished up at our factories, and the first taste of Summer on our lips, I’m doing my actual Summer shopping to round out all the great things we have cooking up here. Some of that is below:
This book is supposed to actually be the best of the Summer. Not just a beach read. It’s coming next week and I’m thrilled to see if its up to hype.
I am in DESPERATE need of new, budget friendly flat summer sandals. I love them white or netural and strappy. It seems the department store selection went out with the pandemic along with appropriately sized martinis under $29 in NYC…
I keep seeing ads for this brand and am curious. Not a fan of drawing attention to the *big toe* but the strappy options seem good and I’ve heard good things about the quality. And while I’ve not been to the store myself (yet), I’m tempted to order what seem like pretty much the original strappy summer flat online. Does anyone else remember years and years of embellished Sam Edelman T-strap knockoffs?…
At one of the first kickoff dinners of the Summer last week, I admired a block printed tablecloth from Paris that was a cut above the rest. It takes something special when it comes to block print for me to really notice. I need a lot of detail and unusual color. So I asked where it was from and took a spin online.. I love how zesty these red pineapples (??) are, such a rare motif for that aesthetic and somehow the color palette is unexpectedly summery… Perfect for the summer dinner table or a picnic.
