Saturday 04.06.24
Happy Saturday everyone! I hope your week wrapped up nicely. We just had an earthquake in NYC as I’m writing this…so I guess mercury really is in retrograde? I find this confusing as April is one of my favorite months of the year. I will simply not have misaligned planets wreak havoc on my favorite season. The tulips are planted on Park Avenue, the sun is finally out after three long days of rain and there’s new product at Manolo.
While we have a long awaited launch happening later next week, it will be a peaceful weekend at MM HQ. I hope you all placed your last minute Spring Evening orders yesterday! I’ll take this quiet weekend in NYC to make a list of all the things I’m looking forward to.
The very first thing I look forward to is getting pre-orders out:) April is a big, big shipping month for us! So look forward to oodles of new PROPER Spring web stock hitting the site mid April. Lots of shopping to be done for when the weather actually warms.
Speaking of shopping, I was targeted by a Moda ad while reading the paper this morning and it worked. Even I’m an impressionable shopper it seems. How cute are these slingbacks?
We walk by a Credo store while grabbing a coffee in the morning and they have the prettiest windows. I love this Ilia mascara, so I’m going to give their blush sticks a try. I love a really pinky pink blush. Going to try “In the Mood”. Oh la la.
I quickly blanched asparagus to serve alongside our lamb for Easter dinner last Sunday and it really made me excited to start cooking spring forward dishes this month. I didn’t take any photos as long roasted lamb is not a visually appealing dish I learned. I’ve had this, this and this saved in my recipe box all winter. We’ve having some friends over tonight and I’m dying to try! I’m thinking that selection is more Sunday early dinner than Friday cocktails. Just because you want to cook a recipe doesn’t mean it’s appropriate for the occasion:)
I started the new Ripley series on Netflix last night I think it’s phenomenal. The cinematography is gorgeous. It reminds me of a much more noir version of Maestro, if you’ve seen that. If this is a trend that continues, I’m not complaining! It’s a great rainy Saturday afternoon watch. If you haven’t read the original Patricia Highsmith novel, I highly recommend. Not only did she write the original Talented Mr. Ripley, she wrote an entire series following Tom Ripley, Deep Water (yes, the steamy movie, 11/10…), and Carol (the novel is actually titled The Price of Salt, which can be confusing).
After hosting Sam’s birthday dinner for twelve, I realized it’s time for one of these handy seating arrangers. They have a very large one on the home floor at BG that always catches my eye. While it’s not on the website (they don’t carry much home product online) I think this is it. What a great hostess gift, or off-registry wedding gift?
Have a lovely weekend all. x
