Happy Saturday Everyone! What an exciting week it’s been at MM HQ. We launched our first Spring Evening collection in two years just hours ago! Designing evening is my education background and I hold it very dear to my heart. If I could spend all year designing evening gowns, I very much would. This go around, we focused on really wearable & varied pieces for wedding season (which, in a lucky twist for designers, continues to stretch further, into almost October now!) and all things black tie. I truly believe there’s more than one option for every MM girl in this collection, something I’m very proud of. Sleeves, florals, ruffles, you name it. Even a new print:) Let’s dive in.
Our first Marcie dress was so popular in the fall we knew it could translate to be a perfect, season-less gown. Marcie’s best feature? She’s so comfortable. This was the number one best seller at both our Palm Beach and Boston trunkshow over the holidays. With a fuctional button front, an adjustable drawstring waist and pockets, she’s a dream for outdoor weddings and events. Bring on the raw bar & spritzes all warm weather season!
I see this on any MOB/MOG at a beachfront wedding this year, and of course for any maternity guest! The contrast trim & ruffles adds an extra layer of polish. I had initially requested these colorways two years ago for some MUCH more formal Evening that didn’t work out, and when we decided to try running a Marcie gown, I knew this cheery Bright Sky palette was perfect for easy-chic Summer weddings. I would also wear this to host a chic dinner at home, 365 days a year. It’s the most relaxed-chic black tie appropriate dress I could possibly make!
OK. I finally present to you, Fabiana. Our first evening skirt! Cut in layers and layers of draped & ruffled Piccadilly Dot, she’s such a chic choice for special occasions. I love her paired with a white oxford for dinner or a black blouse for weddings. We’ve never done a simple black and white dot before, and on such a complex piece, it was the perfect choice. Every so often as a designer, you need to give something that really takes a lot of skill to produce. This skirt is that and I promise, you really, really need it.
Next up, our new Willa gown. In a collection so varied, I knew we needed one truly classic piece. She’s a version of several popular, classic pieces blended together. We cut her in our most luxe fabric, silk gazar, in a perfectly dressy print. If you don’t already own something from our previous Lily of the Valley collection, this painterly take on one of my favorite flowers is simply stunning up close.
Last but certainly not least, we have our Tahlia gown. And yes, this is a brand new print for us, Watercolor Meadow Floral. I have one or two other plans for this print, and I’m thinking we are going to call this as a dedicated “Evening Print”! The sleeve is both fused and lined for extra oomph:) She has such a full, romantic, draped skirt, perfect for any formal occasion.
This floral is beautifully painted, and the color way is simply breathtaking in person. It’s also the first time we’ve used this light, silk blend base cloth, which I think you will really love all year round. As always, the V neck is a perfect middle ground between flatteringly low and still covered. We take V necks very seriously here!
We had such a ball shooting our new evening collection around some of our favorite spots in the city. Above is a fabulous martini I had at The Portrait Bar, a new cocktail lounge in The Fifth Avenue Hotel. It’s reservation only but I highly recommend if you’re in the city.
Happy Easter to all who celebrate this weekend. Easter is one of my favorite holidays, especially in New York City. The tulips are firmly planted on Park Avenue and the weather is warming up. I’ll leave you with a little springtime inspiration for the weekend. If you have any questions about our new evening collection, please email customer service (hello@mollymoorkamp.com) or leave a comment below:) Happy Shopping!
