I sketched every wedding guest’s custom MM gown. We designed forty five custom pieces for our wedding. Too many to fit in one Substack newsletter! It was the joy of a lifetime. Below are more photos of my loved ones in custom MM during our wedding…
My mom, Nancy, and her sister Judy. My mom requested to feel like the matriarch of the evening, so I told her to let me run wild with something she wouldn’t expect. I designed an asymmetrical, tiered silk gazar gown in a custom floral print that was then embellished. It really commanded the room and looked unexpectedly chic. My aunt Judy is probably the preppiest person I know, so I was happy to design for her a custom shift gown in handmade Hydrangea patchwork. I also gifted my aunts coordinating earrings by Rebecca de Ravenel. A look on film at my mom’s toast during the speech portion of the evening. Here you can see the multi colored embellishments more clearly. My other aunts, Mary and Kathi. Mary’s favorite color is purple, so I was happy to make her a lilac gown version of our Hadley dress, which she wore with an MM pashmina and coordinating Rebecca de Ravenel earrings. Kathi wore a gown version of our Francoise shift in custom 3D floral lace, and coordinating earrings. My dear friend Jessica, who owns the iconic Lycette Needlepoint, wore a gold lame silk chiffon gown with a cape overlay. I loved the liquid quality of this very special fabric for her. Here, Architectural Digest’s Madeline O’Malley enters with Vogue’s Elise Taylor. Madeline wore a custom gown version of our Ainsley dress in black taffeta. I absolutely loved it. Another look at the profile of Madeline’s gown. I love the way the horsehair ruffles move. MM’s own Chloe! Who many of you correspond with. Chloe was completely flexible - we waited until all other guests were finished to see what she would like. She just requested strapless and a pastel. So I took the opportunity to design a drop waist gown in pale pink that I knew only she could pull off! My fabulous friend Sam, whose own wedding gown I designed for later this past summer. Sam is not afraid of color or anything bold with fashion. I knew she wanted ease & impact, so I designed this mandarin collar, flare sleeved column gown in mango silk faille with a shocking pink contrast sleeve layer. A closer look at this cheer combination. My friend Alex wanted something sleek but formal for her wardrobe, in her favorite shade of red. So I created this mock neck column gown in silk faille that I know her closet will love for years. Chase and I were roommates in our 20’s and oh boy did we rule the West Village. She’s wearing our classic Amy gown in Navy & White Piccadilly Dots. I loved this shot on film from dancing. To dress so many family and friends for our big day was incredibly special. I hope you enjoy this peek into our very special day. Custom clothing is at the root of what we do at MM, and I’m happy to share my most personal moments with you.
Happy Saturday,
MM
